Captain’s Corner with John and Amy Donaldson - Sebastian Boating Community Welcomes New Sea Tow Owners

Captains John and Amy Donaldson – new owners of Sea Tow Sebastian – have always felt at home along the local Florida waterways. With more than 25 years of experience helping boaters from Cape May to the Naples coast, the Donaldsons know a thing or two about on-water services.

For the last five years, the Donaldsons have been captains of Sea Tow Sebastian and now their plans to own the franchise have finally fallen into place. The seasoned couple’s lifelong plan was to own a business that supported members of their community while also staying close to the water, Sea Tow Sebastian became the perfect match.

The communities surrounding Sebastian have come to know and trust the Donaldsons through the couple’s community involvement and their eagerness to provide safe and reliable on-water assistance. Residents of the community can rest easy and with peace of mind knowing the only changes that have come to Sea Tow Sebastian are the names listed under ownership.

“Amy and I are thrilled to have found our home together in a caring community providing the service our members deserve,” said Captain John Donaldson. “We want all boaters to know that very little is changing for this franchise. Everyone will be welcomed with the same service and passion at all hours of the day just as we always have.”

Sea Tow Sebastian currently operates with three Sea Cat boats ready to perform all towing, ungrounding, jump starts, and other on-water assistance operations. The majority of rescues take place in the Sebastian Inlet, as dangerous currents and unpredictable tides leave many recreational boaters stranded. These vessels are designed to allow for the captains to navigate through the shallow waters and reach every customer in need. The franchises’ service area extends from as far north as Melbourne down through the Sebastian Inlet and southern Vero Beach waters.

The Donaldsons will be hosting multiple “Stuff-a-Boat” charity drives at the start of this holiday season. A Thanksgiving canned food drive will kick things off by collecting non-perishable food items to support a local food shelter. A separate “Toys for Tots” donation drive will begin in early December asking community members to donate a toy for underserved children in the area.
