When it comes to helping boaters and their communities, Capt. John McLaughlin of Sea Tow Atlantic City and Capt. Chris Hampton of Sea Tow St. Augustine are known within their communities for the expert service and invaluable knowledge, both on and off the water. The Captains are celebrating milestone anniversaries this month.
For nearly 20 years, Capt. Hampton was a captain at the Sea Tow St. Augustine location before taking ownership of the franchise, which celebrates its 10th anniversary under his leadership this month. His experience and knowledge of the area and individuals boating there are a huge asset to the franchise location and the local community.
In 2018, Capt. Hampton was recognized by the Saint John’s County Sheriff’s Office with the department’s “Community Partnership” award. And in 2019, the Sea Tow Foundation presented Capt. Hampton its Foundation Hero Award for best embodying the Foundation’s mission to promote boating safety to individuals of all ages and skill levels.
“Boating has always been a huge part of my life,” Capt. Hampton said. “Every day I am able to get out on the water and help boaters. I love what I do.”
In his 25 years at the helm of Sea Tow Atlantic City, Capt. McLaughlin has pretty much seen it all and is driven to do what he does best: helping boaters in need. And it is not just Capt. John, many of his family members also help him run the Sea Tow business.
“We will do everything in our power to help boaters when they need it. By far the most rewarding aspect of what we do is helping boaters get back to boating.”
Additionally, I’ve seen my fair share of crazy situations like boats on top of houses, 40-footers stuck back in the woods, floating houses that were sinking, as well as cars and planes that went into the water. About the only thing we haven’t salvaged is a train.”
Sea Tow Atlantic City’s expertise and dedication to service have garnered many accolades over the years. In 2003, Sea Tow Atlantic City won the first-ever Sea Tow Franchise of the Year award. And in 2018, Capt. McLaughlin was the inaugural recipient of the Capt. Joe Frohnhoefer Visionary Award, named for Sea Tow’s late founder and CEO.
Both Captain Chris and Capt. John have truly embraced the Sea Tow lifestyle, according to Sea Tow CEO, Captain Joseph Frohnhoefer III.
“We are thrilled to congratulate both of them on their respective anniversaries,” Frohnhoefer noted. “We take pride in the services that we offer the boating community, and Sea Tow St. Augustine and Sea Tow Atlantic City maintain those standards in all they do.”
